Sandra Piques Eddy returns after her acclaimed performances in the title role in Greensboro Opera's Cinderella last August! Ms. Eddy rejoins the MET roster this year and sings the title role in Carmen with Maestro Seiji Ozawa in Japan, in addition to her Greensboro Opera appearance! read more »

David Pershall (Escamillo)


David Pershall made his Metropolitan Opera debut in the title role of The Barber of Seville last December and joined the roster of the Vienna Staatsoper as Belcore in L'Elisir d'Amore (Elixir of Love). Greensboro Opera is proud to present this talented baritone, who won First Place in the George London Foundation Competition in February, as the Toreador Escamillo. read more »

Dinyar Vania (Don José)


Dinyar Vania has recently emerged as one of the country's most exciting young tenors. With a voice which combines both power and beauty, he has earned critical acclaim portraying several of the most beloved roles in opera. In 2015-16 he makes his Utah Opera debut as Cavaradossi in Tosca (which he repeats with Piedmont Opera) and sings Dick Johnson in La fanciulla del West in a return to Opera Omaha.

His 2014-15 season included the Duke in Rigoletto with Opera Omaha, a return to Pensacola Opera as Rodolfo in La bohème, the role of his Opera Birmingham debut. He made his Opera Colorado debut as Lieutenant Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, returned to Opera Grand Rapids as Cavaradossi and joined the roster of the Metropolitan Opera for its production of La bohème. read more »

Melinda Whittington (Micaëla)


Melinda Whittington sings the role of Micaëla in our production, in addition to joining the roster of the Lyric Opera of Chicago this year. Her 2015-16 season includes engagements at Arizona and Kentucky Operas, as well as Opera Birmingham. Greensboro Opera is excited to present this North Carolina native and distinguished alumna of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. read more »

Stephanie Foley Davis (Mercedes)


Stephanie Foley Davis was praised by The New York Times in her Glimmerglass Festival debut as "a poised, touching Ma Moss" and Opera News said she was "a loving, careworn Ma, warm of voice and presence." About her recent role debut of Charlotte in Nightingale Opera Theatre's production of Werther, Cleveland Classical said, "...Foley Davis and Culver were terrific in their singing and in delineating their sadness." Last season, Davis performed Suzuki in Piedmont Opera's Madama Butterfly, opposite Jill Bowen Gardner's Cio-Cio San, and other recent engagements include appearances with North Carolina Opera, Arizona Opera, Opera Carolina and a return to Orlando Philharmonic. Stephanie was a winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in the North Carolina District and received an Encouragement Award at the Southeast Region Finals. read more »

Donald Hartmann (Zuniga)


Donald Hartmann makes his Central City Opera debut this summer as William Jennings Bryan in The Ballad of Baby Doe, as well as the Sacristan in Tosca, a role he sang earlier in 2016 with the New York City Opera and which he will sing with Piedmont Opera next October. Mr. Hartmann has a very busy 2016-17 schedule, including returns to North Carolina Opera (Dr. Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro), Zuniga in Greensboro Opera's January 2017 Carmen and the roles of Billy Jackrabbit/Jose Castro in Puccini's La Fanciulla del West with Opera Carolina. read more »
